Plan Your Trip

Escape to suburbia and it so happens you can have your cake and eat it. We are just 25 minutes by train to Central London but still situated just a short drive from the outstanding area of beauty – Surrey Hills – for an escape to the countryside. Our hotel is steeped in history, situated beside a Church of Anne Boleyn, neighbouring the historic Honeywood Museum and overlooking the beautiful Carshalton Ponds of Wandle Valley. The Ponds lead to the famous River Wandle – so important, it even has its own beer named after it.

Epsom Race course

Epsom Downs is a Grade I listed racecourse in the Surrey Hills and is used for thoroughbred horse racing.  Home of the famous Investec Derby, there’s no day out quite like one at this fabulous South London racecourse.

Box Hill

Box Hill is a summit of the North Downs and lies within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty . The hill takes its name from the ancient box woodland found on the steepest west-facing chalk slopes overlooking the River Mole.  This fabulous attraction is just 30 minutes away from the hotel.

Honeywood Museum

Honeywood Museum is a Grade II listed building next to the picturesque Carshalton Ponds. It has beautifully restored period details including the Edwardian Billiards Room, Drawing Room and Bathroom. There are exhibitions which tell the fascinating history of the house and the people who lived there, and an on-going diary of events which illuminate the history of Carshalton and the Borough of Sutton.

Carshalton Ponds

From the windows of our hotel, you’ll be able to see the beautiful Carshalton springs and ponds. The waters date back centuries, to when there used to be a Saxon settlement in the heart of Carshalton. If you’re not looking to venture far, we recommend having a stroll around the ponds. Alternatively, enjoy the view whilst cosied up in our pub.

Morden Hall Park

The stunning Morden Hall Park is our local National Trust Park, located on the banks of the River Wandle in South London. It covers over 50 hectares of parkland with the river meandering through it spanned by romantic footbridges. Perfect for a relaxed summer stroll to walk off the night before’s indulgence.

Nonsuch Park

The park surrounding King Henry VIII’s famous Nonsuch Palace never fails to disappoint guest’s travelling from far and wide.  Picture yourself walking your pooch through well kept lawns and gardens, children’s play areas scattered with a mix of heathland and woods.  With it’s diverse animal and plant species, this is every budding biologist’s dream.
